• American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP)

    The mission of the American Academy of Orthotists and Prosthetists (AAOP) is to promte high standards of patient care through advocacy, education, literature and research. In keeping with its mission, the Academy is the professional organization representing practitioners credentialed by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics and Pedorthics (ABC).

  • American Board for Certification (ABC)

    The American Board for Certification (ABC) is the national certifying and accrediting body for the orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic professions. Since its inception in 1948, ABC has become the quality standard in orthotic, prosthetic and pedorthic certification and today has more than 14,000 certified individuals and over 7,000 accredited facilities.

    ABC is the only credentialing board with Category I recognition from the International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO)​ in addition to accreditation of its orthotist, prosthetist and pedorthic certification programs by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA)​.

  • American Orthotic Prosthetic Association (AOPA)

    The American Orthotic & Prosthetic Association (AOPA) is a national trade association committed to providing high quality, unprecedented business services and products to O&P professionals. Since our founding in 1917, we have worked diligently to establish ourselves as the voice for O&P businesses. Through government relations efforts, AOPA works to raise awareness of the profession and impact policies that affect the future of the O&P industry. AOPA membership consists of more than 2000 O&P patient care facilities and suppliers that manufacture, distribute, design, fabricate, fit, and supervise the use of orthoses (orthopedic braces) and prostheses (artificial limbs). Membership in AOPA represents a professional milestone; it is recognition of leadership and achievement in the O&P community.

  • National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics (NAAOP)

    The National Association for the Advancement of Orthotics and Prosthetics is a non-profit trade association dedicated to educating the public and promoting public policy that is in the interest of the O&P patient. Since 1987, NAAOP has shaped positive results in healthcare legislation and regulation through strong government relations advocacy and education of policymakers.

  • International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO)

    The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics (ISPO), based in Canada, is a multi-disciplinary organization comprised of persons who have a professional interest in the clinical, educational and research aspects of prosthetics, orthotics, rehabilitation engineering and related topics.

    OandPCare.org is a public resource created by ABC containing facts and resources on orthotic and prosthetic credentialing, Medicare regulations, state licensing guidelines and best practices from health care insurance organizations. A complete listing of all ABC certified practitioners and accredited patient care facilities is provided, as well as patient care information provided by the Amputee Coalition of America.
